According to the circular of the MoCI (the Saudi Ministry of Commerce and Industry) in 2011 of banning on 127 volt Products and Other Voltage Restrictions, all electrical appliances and equipment rated 127 voltage only are not accepted any longer from May 21st, 2012.
However, the following electrical appliances and equipment do not apply to the above decision and are still allowed to be imported and manufactured in Saudi Arabia:
- Plugs and sockets of 127 voltages are allowed to be imported and manufactured for 15 years,
- Light bulbs, which operate on 127 volts are allowed to be imported and manufactured for 15 years,
- Fixed electric fans and suction fans for kitchens and toilets that run on 127 volts are allowed to be imported and manufactured for 15 years
- Appliances and electrical equipment, which works on a bilateral (dual) voltage adjustable manually or automatically (100-230) volt are allowed to be imported permanently
